How to link your Aadhaar card with your PAN & mobile number?
Lately, there has been a lot of clamor surrounding the Aadhar card. The government has consistently extended the deadline to link your Aadhar with phone numbers, LPG connections bank accounts and other important utilities. Though there are speculations of privacy breaches, the decision is currently under examination by the Supreme Court. Irrespective of the final decision, you can easily link your Aadhar with your PAN and mobile number in few easy steps.
Linking your Aadhar to PAN
Log-in to the E- Filing portal – Visit the income tax filing website, incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in and log in with your username and password.
Change the profile settings – Once you have successfully logged in, go to the profile-setting tab and click on ‘Link Aadhar’ option in the drop-down list.
Link Aadhar – Once the new window opens, it would display your personal details like name, gender, etc. as per the PAN. Verify it with your Aadhar. Once it matches, you may get a captcha code to verify. Enter the captcha code and click on ‘Link Aadhar’.
Ensure that date of birth and gender mentioned in both the PAN and Aadhaar cards are the same. Once UIDAI verifies the data, the linking gets confirmed.
Link your Aadhar to phone number
Linking Aadhar with your phone number is also simple. Here’s how:
– Visit your telecom operator with your Aadhar number.
– Provide your phone number to the operator; you will receive an OTP on your registered mobile number
– Provide this OTP to the operator.
– The operator will take your fingerprint for biometric validation.
– Once complete, you will get a SMS, informing you of the linkage.
According to the Finance Act 2017, it is now mandatory to quote your Aadhar number to file income tax return. Linking of Aadhar number with PAN and your phone number has become mandatory, failure of which could result in cancellation of your PAN. To avoid future inconveniences, link your PAN with your Aadhar and phone number.
